How to Stop Strangers from Adding You to WhatsApp Groups?

*****************************

WhatsApp groups are a fantastic way to remain in touch with loved ones, friends, and even coworkers, but many abuse the feature to add a lot of people to them in order to advertise goods or services. The fact that these organizations are frequently formed without the individuals' consent may annoy many. The majority of us detest being a part of pointless groups and frequently wonder if leaving a group abruptly would be unfriendly. Having a filter that will prevent random users from adding you to groups is the best approach to avoid this.

How to stop new WhatsApp users from adding you to groups?

Thankfully, there is a setting in WhatsApp's privacy menu that you may change to prevent being added to arbitrary groups. You can choose who can add you to groups under this setting, which by default is set to "Everyone," meaning anyone with your phone number can do so. Remember that even after you make changes to the settings, group administrators can still send you invite links and prod you to join groups. To prevent being joined to groups by chance, take the following actions:
  1. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of WhatsApp after opening it.
  2. Account can be accessed by selecting the Settings menu option.
  3. Click on Groups under Privacy. 'Everyone' is most likely the default setting.
  4. 'Everyone', 'My Contacts', and 'My Contacts Except' are the three options you have to choose from.
  5. Anyone with your phone number can add you to a group without your consent if you choose the "Everyone" option.
  6. Users can only add you to groups using the 'My Contact' option if you have saved their phone numbers in your contact list.
  7. By allowing you to further filter and delist the contacts you don't want to be added by to a group, the last "My Contacts Except" option enables you to specify exactly who can add you to groups.
